WHO IS HE?

Chef Bonju was first mentioned in the news on August 3rd, 2006. He is an orange blumaroo, who got his first debut from Cyrodrake's gaze-plot. He was the ships chef and sailed with the ship all time of plot. Especially Hoban didn't like his cookings, so after a fight between Hoban and Bonju, Bonju decided to push Hoban over. So the ship continued their trip, and tried to find Hoban after they noticed his disappearance. After a long time of sailing they found Hoban, and Bonju was sorry that he lost his temper.

Bonju's greetings on Culinary Concoctions; You approach a rather surly looking orange Blumaroo. Judging by his clothing, you guess he's the cook on this ship. "Another one!? Ever since we landed here, I've been bothered by countless visitors. I don't think it will ever end." He lets out a deep sigh. "I guess I'll make the most of it while I'm here. I am a master culinary artist, after all!"
He looks quite pleased with himself, doesn't he? In any case, he begins to explain the wonders of the rather ordinary mysterious cooking vessel that sits before you both.
"This isn't just any ordinary mysterious cooking vessel!" Oh... right. "You see, it can combine two or more items into something spectacular... with my help, of course! I bet you've never seen anything like that before!"
Hmmm. You seem to recall something about a magical cooking po... "Hey! Are you listening?" He snaps you back to reality and you forget what it was you were trying to remember. "Anyway, choose two or more items from your inventory and hand them over to me. I'll put them in the magical cooking vessel and we'll see what comes out. We have to be careful, though. There have been... incidents, but we won't talk about that."
Choose items from your inventory using the form below. Make sure each item is different. You cannot mix two or more of the same item.

Jujerz's noticed; When thinking of combination of mystery island's cooking pot and the Culinary Concoctions, the items of Mystery Island's Cooking Pot were released in the news. TNT also stated out that the items were from mystery island's cooking pot. So should we believe that the result items already exist? Also, is it strange that they directly released the end result items to the Mystery Island Cooking Pot, and no resulting item for the Culinary Concoctions?

SOME FACTS

Shenkuu was released after the avatar. Only the Lunar Temple was released after the Cyodrake's Gaze plot. All of the other pages were available on the Cyodrake's Gaze ship itself.
The only item, that includes Chef Bonju's name is Chef Bonju stamp, and that, as well as Hoban stamp (as well as every else Shenkuu stamp), was released after the avatar.
Orange blumaroo plushie was released after the avatar.
Snarkie neither anyone else in TNT has said absolutely nothing. (See Snarkie's mail and editorial articles bottom of the page)

COMMENTS ON HIS COOKING

"Anshu and I were discussing how awful the food's been lately. That anchovy casserole really did a number on my-" -Linae

"'Are you kidding?' I shouted back. 'That food was AWEFUL! You're lucky I'm the only one who walked out!'" -Hoban

Dispite the remarks against his cooking, the crew repeats in every version that they ate and ate and ate. They are always grinning widely as they shove their smiling faces. There is actually an image of Linae protecting her plate from Shumi who is hover over her shoulder.

IMAGES

In this section you will find all images of bonju that have been published on neopets, including any additional information.

This banner was placed on the neopets front at Neopets 9th Birthday on November 15th, 2008! As you can see the banner mentions the bonju avatar, which means that the method to finding out the avatar is still unknown.
When calculated back, 831 days before November 15th, 2008 takes us to August 7th, 2006. A day before the avatar was released. There was a leap year day in there. Possibly TNT miscalculated?

Outside Neopets References

This is the banner from Culinary Concoctions from before the site layout change. The banner says, "Bork, Bork, Bork" in the background. This was a phrase the muppets chef stated when he was getting ready to cook. Right after he said this, he would throw his utencils over his head and behind him causing a crash that startled him.

Also could possibly be saying, "pork".

When describing what he knew was truth about the night Hoban disappeared, Anchu said, "But it was all tyrannian to me." This is a reference to Julius Cesar as stated, "It was all Greek to me."

Neopian Times Editorial & Snarkie

Snarkie is a member of The Neopets Team (TNT). Apparently there were rumors about her saying something about the avatar. She cleared things up with this post.
So, only it's confirmed that Snarkie said nothing about it.

The information about the burninate avatar, is refering to the Scorchio - Scordrax.

There have been also rumors that claims that she is the maker of the avatar. This is probably just a rumor, because snarkie is a programmer. However, she says on her lookup she helps design avatars.

The Neopian Times has, on several occasions answered questions about Chef Bonju. These are displayed below.

It puzzles me to think that no one else has asked about this: Hoban -- is he yellow or is he gold? Looking at the Rainbow Pool, yellow Aishas are very pale. Hoban (on the other hand) is a rich, darker color. Gold would be the only answer staying in the same color assortment. So, would you shine some light on this? Yellow or gold? ~jujerz

Hoban is just a very bold colour of yellow. :)

Question #5,735, archived from Editorial Issue 374 · Published 2009-01-09

Thanks to Juji, we finally got this thing cleared up; Hoban is a yellow aisha. Horray!

I was on a board with someone looking at the source code trying to look for clues to the newest avatar, and along came someone who was report happy that said, "Looking at the source code is cheating and against the rules." This was followed, of course, by "REPORTED!!!!!" I was wondering if this is true or not. Oh, and if this makes it into the NT please leave my name out. =)

LOL! Oh man. Perhaps the person wasn't clear on what a source code is? Looking at a page's source code is perfectly fine. We've had several mystery plots and at least one avatar that requires you to look at it, so no, it isn't an issue at all.

And just to stop it right here, we can assure you, the current avatar that is bugging everyone doesn't have anything to do with source codes. ;)

And, before we get ten tons of editorial questions asking what a source code is… (yes, that is the way of things) the "View Source" option allows you to see the code output of a web page in a handy text document. So exciting!

Question #3,949, archived from Editorial Issue 254 · Published 2006-08-25

So according this TNT has confirmed that bonju avvy has nothing to do with the source codes, and many persons have checked the source codes without finding anything notable. However, you can never know, has this really anything to do with it. For example TNT always claims jelly world doesn't exit, but as we know, it exists.

I know everyone is still going nuts about the Bonju avatar and that you won't give us any hints at all. :( (Maybe just one hint? Is it bork or the cooking pot we have to worry about? :P) So in the midst of all this controversy let's say someone gets the avatar? Would it be considered a scam to "sell" off how to get the avatar? I've seen a few boards with this topic going around and it looks like if Bonju does get out there will be a heavy price to pay. P.S. TNT rocks. ^^ ~ nene70

No one has it yet, but if someone does find it, while they are perfectly allowed to keep the secret to themselves or only tell who they like the secret, they may under NO circumstances request someone to "donate" or pay them for the secret. That's one quick way to the freezer.

Question #4,752, archived from Editorial Issue 307 · Published 2007-08-31

So,this most likely means that Snarkie does not have it either, or that she doesn't count because she's a member of TNT.

Hey TNT, I have an awesome idea! Wouldn't it be great if there was another place we could go (besides the Editorial) to submit our important questions about Neopia, and DEFINITELY have them answered by TNT staff? It would be great, cause I know you guys get thousands of questions each week, and you can only answer a very small amount of them, so a lot of people never get their questions answered, and there are some questions that only TNT staff can answer. I know that I personally get really annoyed when I submit an important question and it doesn't get answered, since there is then no other way for me to find that answer. So please, make a new area where us players can go to ask our serious questions and always have them answered? Obviously there would have to be a limit, so maybe one question a week for each player? Please TNT, help us out here? ~starprincessamber

While the idea sounds good on paper, and we'd love to give everyone with questions individual attention, in practice we think it would fail miserably. There's only so many times we can tell players that only the Esophagor knows when and where Martha Kyrii died, or no, we're not telling you how to get the Bonju avatar, and no, we still don't know when the Pound will be open, etc. We looked through the previous 123 questions you've asked and, actually, we haven't really found any that would merit getting into the Editorial. The FAQ, or even just asking your fellow Neopians or reading through past Editorials should clear up a lot of those questions. Also, concerns (which is what most of yours are) or comments aren't really what the Editorial responds to, so you'd have better luck submitting such things to the proper forms. You won't always get an answer, but your concerns will be forwarded to the appropriate people.

Question #4,857, archived from Editorial Issue 313 · Published 2007-10-12

Well... TNT isn't giving any hints.

Hello, TNT. I am knitting you a scarf so you don't get too cold when you send people to iceland. (WHY CAN'T THEY JUST FOLLOW THE RULES? D:) Um, okay so my best friend Josh has figured out how to get the Bonju avatar, and I asked for him to tell me, and he said I needed to give him 20k. Isn't that a freezable offence? *needs to know before he does so on the boards*. WE LUFF YOU TNT! ~[username removed]

Umm... yah. Very freezable. In fact, you may want to reevaulate your best friend status with someone who is charging you for information, and ask him why he can't just follow the rules. Also, if anyone claims to have the Bonju avatar, please make sure they display it as their active avatar to confirm before you take their claim too seriously. If they haven't posted, you can see someone's active avatar when Neomailing them or looking up their username in the search bar.

Question #4,869, archived from Editorial Issue 314 · Published 2007-10-19

In fact, TNT isn't saying in this one that no one has it anymore, but that still doesn't mean that someone has it, it's really really strange, if someone has the Bonju avatar. Probably TNT just doesn't want to mention the same thing again. And yeah, remember always get proof if someone has it, and never pay for clues. No one has it yet.

Please, PLEASE, PLEASE TNT... confirm that "831 days since the avatar was released..." has nothing to do with the Bonju avatar! I mean, it obviously can't. o.0 Why must you keep mentioning things and getting people all worked up? It's driving me insane how people look for every little detail and think, "They mentioned it's been 831 days since the avatar was released! It MUST be a clue!" How can it be a clue? It hadn't been 831 days when you first introduced the avatar to us on the news page. I cannot stand this madness anymore. At least confirm that 831 days has nothing to do with the avatar. ~xmakemesmile

BUAHAHAHHAHA. No.

Question #5,667, archived from Editorial Issue 369 · Published 2008-11-21

Well, this answer is really impossible to analyze. Here TNT isn't saying anything clearly, the answer in this question can mean
1. No can mean in this situation that "No, it has nothing to do with 831 days", or
2. "No we aren't confirming anything, becouse we are so evil", or
3. "No, 831 days has a meaning with the avatar, you just have to figure it out by yourself!".
