Tarla's Tour of Mystery
From April 29, 2010 to May 26, 2010, a site event called Tarla's Mystery Tour is taking place. During this event, Tarla will be appearing at different locations for a short time period. Once you find her, you may have choices of neopoints, an item prize, or to have a section of the mist revealed. The mist clearing option will not be available every time you find her. There will be 16 mist sections in all, and you are limited to 5 item prizes each day during the event. At the end of the event, if you have cleared all the mist, you will get an additional prize. After the 26th of May, an alternate way to clear the mist was released, but for those who have cleared at least one section of mist during the event. You can read more about this below.
Where can I find Tarla?
Tarla's location will change and she cannot always be found. When she can be found, she'll be at a random location somewhere in Neopia and will not stay very long. Try using our Map Links page for help in locating her.
The event will be at the top of the page and quite large. There are three different prizes that you can choose from. You can choose to clear the mist. You can do this only once a day. Also it should be noted that you may not always get this option on your first time of catching Tarla that day. It can take three or more times of catching her before you get this option. The other prizes you can choose from is to get an item (see the prizes section below) or a neopoint award. The amount of neopoints you receive can vary from 1 np to about 70,000 neopoints.
You can only clear the mist a certain amount of times each week. The table below shows how many you can collect. You can collect one piece a day. This means that, if you're catching up missed pieces, you can collect 7 pieces in one week. You can never collect more than indicated in the time table below.

You need to have collected your first piece on no later than May 11th, if you've collected your first piece that day, you need to collect one each day after that. Otherwise you will not be able to obtain all 16 pieces. If you've not collected all 16 pieces before the end, but you have collected at least one, you can still uncover the mist by completing a secret (but difficult) assignment.

You will not be able to participate in this event if you are in Portal Mode.
Clearing the mist after May 26th
For everyone who did not manage to clear all of the mist before the end of the event, a different way was found to still clear pieces of mist. However, this alternate way of finishing the event is only available for those who cleared at least one piece of mist during the event. In order to clear mist, you have to buy a bag of mystery from Tarla's Shop of Mystery. Finding mist when buying a mystery bag is totally random, so it can get a bit expensive. You can buy one Mystery Bag every 1,5 minute. So far people have been able to clear more than one mist a day, but we have no idea if there's a limit. Tarla's shop restocks every 1-2 minutes, but it can take longer. You can still get all the prizes after you cleared the mist, except for Tarlas Underground Workshop Background, which was only given to those who cleared the mist during the event.
How many mists have I cleared?
If you lost track of the number of times you have cleared the mist, there is an easy way to find out.
First, go to the Tarla's Tour of Mystery page. When you are there, right click on the page (on the background, not on any images or links). A menu will appear, in which you select 'View Page Source'. Then you scroll down (or search for pp1), untill you see a list like this:

pp1 means you've found uncovered piece number 1, and so on. It's important to realise you may not always uncover the pieces in the right order. It's possible that you uncovered piece 8 (pp8), while you've not yet uncovered piece 5 and 7 (pp5 and pp7). Your list could look like this:

You need to count the number of pieces (pp's) listed to see how many you've cleared. In this example, 6 were cleared; pieces 1-4, 6 and 8.
Clearing the mist after the Tour of Mistery has ended
If you weren't able to clear all the mists before the tour had ended, you can complete doing so buying a Mystery Bag from Tarla's Shop of Mystery. It's random wether the bag you buy will contain mist or not. Sometimes you'll need to buy several bags before you'll get the mist. Keep in mind that buying Tarla's Mystery bags will cost you Neopoints and when you do not get the mist, most of the time the item the bag gives out is not worth the price you paid for it.
You can buy a Mystery bag every 1,5 minute and Tarla's shop restocks usually every 1-2 minutes. It seems you can clear more than on mist a day, but it's not known wether there is a limit on how many mists you can clear or not.
Tarla mist counters
We have two different mist counters for you to put on your lookup (or anywhere else) to show off to everyone how often you have cleared the mist from Tarla.
If you want to use one, simply copy the code in the box below the banner of your choice and paste it where you plan to use it. The counters are set to the number zero (0). If you look inside the coding you will see the image url which looks like this:

In the url you see the number 0 (zero), change this number to the number of times that you have cleared the mist.

Each time Tarla appears, we post her appearance first on our Twitter account. There are lots of nifty programs that will give you a sound alert, popup or phone text message if we have posted an update. What happens when the mist is cleared?
Each time you clear mist, a section of the image behind Tarla becomes visible. To see a preview of the image, just click the link -- or don't click if you'd rather wait!

If you click on one of the options (mist, item or neopoints) you will get one of the following messages:
If you wait too long to make your decisision you will get the error message shown below.
After you have collected an item or neopoints 5 times at the same day, you will get a message from Tarla saying you're not allowed to collect any prizes anymore.
What item prizes are available?
Tarla may give you a choice of a neopoint prize or an item. Known newly released items are listed below. Tarla has also been giving away a wide variety of other items, themes seem to be Neopian Lands and "Mystery" items, travel food, and Ixi items.

What is Tarla's Tour of Mystery?
Tarla's Tour of Mystery is a new event in which users must find Tarla at different times of the day in various places throughout Neopia in order to receive a prize.
What does it mean when Tarla asks if I want to see behind the mist?
When you choose to see behind the mysterious mist, Tarla will clear part of it away for you, revealing what's hidden. If you have her clear away all of the mist over the course of the event, you will receive a special prize! The prize, however, is a secret!
If I choose to have Tarla clear away some of the mist, can I still collect an item or Neopoints?
Yes, in addition to having some mist cleared, you may collect up to five of any of the prizes available each time you find Tarla.
What if I can't find her or I can't log in on a particular day? Will I miss out on getting that portion of the hidden picture cleared?
Different portions of the mist are not cleared on specific days, so if you aren't able to visit the site one day, you will still have the opportunity to have all of the mist cleared away to receive the special prize.
Can I ask Tarla to clear away some mist more than once per day?
No, Tarla will only disperse mist for you once a day.
How many times must I have Tarla clear away the mist before the secret is revealed?
You will have to ask Tarla to dispel the mist 16 times over the course of the event to reveal the secret and earn the special prize.
What if I don't clear away all of the mist during the event?
There will be a way to clear away the rest of the mist and uncover the secret after the event, but it will be much more difficult. We will reveal how to do this after Tarla's Tour of Mystery is over.
Can I start having the mist cleared after the event is over?
No, in order to be eligible to have any remaining mist cleared after the event, you must ask Tarla to uncover what's hidden behind the mist at least once during Tarla's Tour of Mystery.
Can Tarla clear the mist in the same spot more than once?
No, each portion of mist can only be cleared once.
I haven't been able to have any mist cleared! Help!
The option to have the mist blown away will not be available every time you find Tarla. Keep trying to find her to increase your chances of receiving the chance to have her disperse some of the mist.
Where will Tarla be?
Part of the fun of Tarla's Tour of Mystery is that she could be hiding anywhere in Neopia! Any location that is on the Neopian map is a place where you might be able to find her.
I just found Tarla and the message said that I can't collect any more prizes for today. Is that correct?
Yes, you may only collect up to five items and/or Neopoint prizes per day. Also, remember that Tarla will only clear away mist once per day,
How long does Tarla's Tour of Mystery last?
Tarla's Tour of Mystery will run from April 29, 2010 through May 26, 2010.
How many times per day will Tarla appear?
Tarla will appear in Neopia multiple times throughout each day. You never know how many! You have to keep searching to find her!
How long will Tarla be in each place?
The time that Tarla is in each location will vary. She could be in a certain place for a very short time, or she might stay longer. Be sure to collect your prizes as soon as you find her, before she moves on again!
