Update: Scammers have recently begun making fake Snowager boards for their dangerous sites as well. Remember check the url before you visit any link posted on the boards. If it does not start with www.neopets.com it is a dangerous site!

There is a Tarla scam going on at the neoboards. Scammers  are making boards with fake tarla alerts. Rather than using the normal tarla link, they are linking you to a different website. The url will look similar to www.neopets.com but is a small variation to it. If one clicks on the fake link they will be taken to a different website with on it a cookie grabber. This is a script that steals your login info. This allows the scammer to steal your Neopets account.

We would like to warn everyone not to rush and click on the tarla links. The best thing to do is NOT to click on them anymore at all and to install the Tarla Toolbar yourself.

Should you have accidentally clicked on the scam link, do the following:
Change your password and PIN codes (though PIN's should be protected from cookiegrabbing, better be safe than sorry) as quickly as possible. If you were logged in at your email adress at the time you visited the website with cookiegrabber, there is a very slight possibility that the scammer also managed to get that info, so to be in the safe side you should change the password of that as well. Furthermore we advise you to run a thorough  virus and spyware scan afterwards to ensure your computer is not compromised in other ways.

Please note that scammers may use variations to this theme, such as fake Punchbag Sid boards etc. Always be wary, never just click on a link you see!

Don't click on the tarla links on the boards anymore ok ? :)
