Altador Cup XX

The news, hot off the press, from TNT themselves as they unravel their own coverage for Altador Cup XX.

The Altador Cup XX Press Tour is Underway!

It’s that time of year again! After what felt like a never-ending hiatus due to the Grey Curse spreading across Neopia, the Altador Cup is finally upon us. As always, I’m Tobias Sigmir, and my partner, Hovri Sweet, and I are as excited as ever to bring you breaking news as each stage of the Cup progresses.

To kick off the festivities, the Press Tour has officially begun! For the next week, we’ll be bringing you the latest news on what each team has been up to, how they’re looking going into this year’s tournament, and who’s new on the scene. Keep your eyes and ears peeled, because there are going to be some changes coming to this year’s Altador Cup – including the ability to earn points for your team on break days and bye days, and trivia questions we’ll be asking about what’s going on with the teams during the press tour. We’ll even be awarding prize points early for answering those questions!

That’s all for now. Once again, I’m Tobias Sigmir, and this is my partner Hovri Sweet. Stay tuned for our next report in a week’s time, on 6/29, when sign-ups open!

The Altador Cup XX Press Tour is Underway!

After an exciting week of stories, trials, and tribulations for our competing teams, it’s finally time to pick a side. That’s right: the Sign-up period has begun!

Choose from one of the 20 teams competing in this year’s Altador Cup, from Altador itself all the way to Virtupets – including our latest newcomers: Team Neopia Central! Whilst all the teams are looking strong and well-rested, nobody seems as raring to go as our newcomers. They’ve got something to prove, and they intend to do it! But can they dethrone our two-year-running champions, Team Kreludor? And how will Team Dacardia deal with no longer being the new kids on the block?

The tension seems about ready to burst between our teams, but the competition hasn’t started just yet. That doesn’t mean you have to sit on your hands and wait, though – once you’ve chosen a team, the games will begin! You’ll be able to practice any of the Altador Cup games as much as you like, but you won’t earn any points for your team until the tournament begins. Once it does, play as much as you can – every day of the tournament you’ll be able to earn points for your team, including bye days and break days!

And if you miss sign-ups completely, don’t worry – you won’t be able to support a team, but you’ll still be able to play games and earn points to spend in the Prize Shop. Best of luck – and choose your team wisely!

That’s all for now. I’m Hovri Sweet, and this is Tobias Sigmir, and we’re signing off. See you in one week, on 7/6, when the Altador Cup tournament officially begins.

Round 1 Begins with a Bang!

The first round of the Altador Cup has begun! This is a quickfire round to determine the initial tournament brackets, and will only last one day. Each team has been randomly matched up with an opponent to compete for a spot in the top bracket. After the day is done, the tournament will take a break while the Altador Cup Committee tallies up scores and determines Round 2’s brackets.

Play as much as you can and support your team to the best of your abilities to make sure you reach the highest possible bracket! And don’t forget about all the prize points you’ll earn. Speaking of which, although this round only lasts one day, and tomorrow there will be a break, don’t forget you can continue to earn prize points for playing when there are no ‘official’ matchups going on.

See you all soon for another news update. Until then, I’m Tobias Sigmir, and this is my partner Hovri Sweet.

Rest, Recuperate, and Revitalise during Round Break 1

The first round of the Altador Cup has come to an end, and the Committee is hard at work tallying scores and verifying results. In the meantime, don’t forget to keep playing, because even though there are no official matches taking place today, all games played will still earn you prize points! And that goes for if you were unable to sign up for a team this year, too.

I’m Hovri Sweet, and this is my partner Tobias Sigmir. We’ll be back soon with another update on the beginning of the Altador Cup’s second round!

Rest, Recuperate, and Revitalise during Round Break 1

It’s time for Round 2 of the Altador Cup! The first bracket split has been decided, and now we’re back with another quickfire round to determine the final brackets. Krawk Island seems to be leading the pack right now, but Maraqua are hot on their heels! Meanwhile, Prytariel of Terror Mountain appears to be on a hot streak – can she keep it up, or will she have her thunder stolen by Mystery Island forward Volgoth, who’s leading his team in goals scored?

On the other side of things, Moltara suffered an early loss, but looks to recover as Tulah Kisner steels her resolve and looks to put a new plan into action. A rivalry may just be heating up between them and Shenkuu – but we’ll see how this plays out as our teams all compete for a chance to move up into a new bracket!

Personally, I’m looking forward to seeing Kayn Hireck’s progress. He seems to be the one to watch this year, with score streaks as hot as the Lost Desert sun but a head as cool as the tippy-top of Terror Mountain. Not that I’m expressing any sort of journalistic bias here, heh.

Signing off, this is Hovri Sweet, and as always, I’m joined by my partner, Tobias Sigmir. See you soon for your regular tournament update!
