What is the Festival of Fears event about?

The Festival of Fears is a new way for all of Neopia to come together and commemorate the scarier side of life! While rainbows and sunshine are good for some, many feel more at home in darkness and cobwebs, and this festival wants to celebrate it all! So whether you like to dive headfirst into the scary unknown or would rather just dip a toe in, this festival will have something for you! This year, Reginald is hosting the event in his own personal library to share some of the scary stories he has collected over the years. Make sure to visit him to learn more about the event if you haven't already!

How long does the event last?

Festival of Fears will start at 10 AM NST on October 23rd and go until 11:59 PM NST on October 31st. New Goodie Bags will become available each day for the first 7 days of the event, but can be found at any time once they are available.

How do I join the event?

Once the event has started, be sure to talk to Reginald. Once you see all he has to say, all activities will be open to you!

Is this like the past Trick-or-Treat? Will I still be able to get the Goodie Bags?

Aspects of the past Trick-or-Treat activities will still be a part of this year's Festival of Fears. There will still be 7 Goodie Bags for you to find around the site, but this year, they will come out one day at a time. You can still find them at any time once they are available and you have joined the event by talking to Reginald at the hub page. If you're having a hard time, go check out the hub page for clues to where they are!

How does finding the Goodie Bags work?

There will be 7 Goodie Bags hidden around Neopia throughout the event. Each day, a new one will become available alongside a clue as to where to find it. Once the Goodie Bag is available, you can find it at any time while the event is active. You also do not need to view the clue to find them, so there is a chance you could stumble upon them if you're lucky! Once you're at the right spot, you will see a pop-up granting you the Goodie Bag (and an extra prize if you are Premium). With each Goodie Bag, you will also unlock a new story that you can read at the event Hub Page, so be sure to visit Reginald in his Library after to see what else you may be able to unlock!

Do I have to read the clues to find the Goodie Bags?

Nope, once the Goodie Bag is available, you can find it at any time. The clues are just there in case you'd like some help tracking them down!

What's inside the Goodie Bags? Am I guaranteed everything inside if I open it?

Every Goodie Bag has a 100% chance to grant two random items out of a prize pool and a 50% chance to grant a third item from the same prize pool. Also, each Goodie bag has two unique items that are guaranteed to be granted upon opening. So you are guaranteed to get 4 unique items with a chance at a 5th item.

Do I have to open the Goodie Bags before the event ends?

Nope! While you can only find the Goodie Bags while the event is active, once you have them, you can open them at any time.

I found a Goodie Bag, and it said I found a book, but I don't see one in my inventory. What do I do?

The books will not go into your inventory. They belong to Reginald, the host of this year's Festival of Fears. Once you have found the Goodie Bag, you will have unlocked the book and thus can return to the Event Hub Page to read the contents of it there.

Do I have to open the Goodie Bag to get the book?

Nope! The books are separate from the Goodie Bags. Once you have found a Goodie Bag, return to Reginald at the Festival of Fears Hub Page to read the book.

How am I supposed to know the answers to these trivia questions?

Reginald based all of these questions around the books from his personal collection. If you think you've got what it takes, then try reading through the scary stories for the answers!

What do I get for answering the trivia questions?

For each Goodie Bag Trivia Question you answer, you will be granted one prize from a Prize Pool of 30 items.

Is it possible to get repeat prizes from the trivia questions?

Nope. There will be no repeat prizes from the trivia questions.

How many trivia questions do I have to answer to get my prize?

You just have to get one right per Goodie Bag! Once you've answered a trivia question correctly, you will automatically be granted a prize.

Besides the Goodie Bags and Books, what other activities can I do during the Festival of Fear?

Click on the Activities tab on the event Hub Page to see all the different ways you can celebrate during the Festival of Fears!

During the event:

• Try your luck with the Deserted Fairground Scratchcards.
• Get one free spin at the Wheel of Misfortune.
• Visit Edna at any time, day or night, for a higher chance of hearing her unique laughter and more variety of rewards.
• Go Apple Bobbing, but be careful; with the increase of visitors due to the festival, Bart may be up to more tricks than usual.
• Send a Petpet into Grave Danger, and due to how frightening the festivities are, we bet those little guys won't be able to stay in there nearly as long as usual.
• Attempt to give the Brain Tree the answers he seeks for all new kinds of rewards.
• Feed the Esophagor a spooooooky number of times for something entirely new.
• Test your bravery at the NC Haunted Mansion.

How do Premium prizes work for this festival?

Premium Members will be granted a Premium Exclusive Prize for every Goodie Bag that they find.

Do I have to open the Goodie Bag to get my Premium Extra Prize?

Nope! If you were Premium when you found the Goodie Bag, then the Premium Extra Prize would have been put in your inventory immediately. If you became Premium after finding the Goodie Bag, then go to the Goodie Bags tab in the event hub page and claim the Premium Extra Prize from there.

I already found some Goodie Bags, but I want to join Premium to get the Premium prizes connected to them. Is that still possible?

It sure is! If the Premium Prizes have tickled your interest, then if you sign up for Premium anytime while the event is active, you can claim any Premium Prizes for Goodie Bags you've already found at the event's Hub Page in the Goodie Bags tab! If you still have more Goodie Bags to find, then they will be granted alongside the Goodie Bag once found!

I'm not Premium, but I see the item I could get if I become Premium. Am I guaranteed this prize if I do?

Yup! If you sign up for Premium before the event ends, then you can go claim any Premium Prize for Goodie Bags you already found at the event's Hub Page in the Goodie Bags Tab.

I don't have Premium. Can I still participate in the Festival of Fears?

Of course!! Everyone will be able to celebrate the Festival of Fears in every way. Premium Members will simply get an additional Premium prize for each Goodie Bag they find.

Who is Reginald?

Reginald is this year's host of the Festival of Fears. While the whole town of Neovia, and other members around the Haunted Woods, decided to put together this festival, he's the young Lupe who showed the most determination for bringing it to life and thus was voted to host it. He's got a real passion for collecting one-of-a-kind stories in any form and has garnered quite a collection of unique tales over the years. While he grabs any books he can get his paws on, his favourites are those of the scary variety, so he thought it only proper to share them during this year's festival! Join him in his personal library to learn all about this year's festivities!

Can I participate in the event on my side account(s)?

No, side accounts cannot participate in this event. You may only participate in the Festival of Fears on your main account.
