August Livestream: Altador Cup Edition
On August 1st, 2024, Neopets held a special livestream that featured details about Altador Cup and the new Dacardia team. There were lots of updates on merch and upcoming events for Tales of Dacardia. TNT Dom held a Q&A based on community submitted questions. You can view a recording of this livestream on YouTube.
This livestream was announced a week beforehand, on July 23rd. For the second time, questions were submitted on Neopets through the Neoboards, instead of using a third-party platform.

- A sneak peak for the TNT staff tournament participants:
- Dacardia is the main land that is newly rediscovered land that has a rich history but was secluded for a long time.
- After a storm that destroyed it and everything on it, it is now being restored in Neopia and reconnecting with all of Neopia.
- A part of the reconnection is bringing their team to the Altador Cup.
Can you share the backstory for Team Dacardia's team members? [10:50]

- Plucky and determined,
- was devastated when the team wasn’t able to make it to last year’s Altador Cup
- She tripped over a Crabbybot getting snacks to help with the Dacardia restoration effort and broke her leg

- Has a taste for YYB equipment,
- self-proclaimed to have the strongest block game in all of Neopia
- Jarek “The Rock” (Goalkeeper)
- Loudest voice and hardest head in Dacardia (a title given to him by his teammates)

- is hard on herself when she doesn’t perform as she wants

Hints about Altador Cup and what to expect [15:00]
- Hinted, "there are strange whisperers (not literal sounds) happening in Neopia"
- This probably refers to upcoming appearances from Orion
- From the Festival of Neggs, he theorized that large Neopian gatherings produce the strongest visions.
- TNT has also hinted to paying attention to “upcoming events” so there might be some plot tie-ins
- In tales of Dacardia there is an event right now with a small quest line where Dacardia is celebrating and hanging out for the Altador Cup.
- There are adorable items and a second quest line happens on Monday (August 5th, 2024) where new items and decorations are being introduced.
- A small new feature to the game will be added to earn more pearly neggs.
- If you like the crabby bots, you’re gonna like what is going to happen in wave two of the quest event.
- Reminder that connecting NeoPass to Tales of Dacardia will allow you to collect exclusive Dacardia-themed items on the classic website.
- New quests are coming mid-to-late Fall, possibly early Winter
- Focusing on large events like Altador Cup but will have smaller quests periodically.
TNT Fallie (Social Media Meepit)
- The Neopets Tabletop Roleplaying Game

- What is a Tabletop Roleplaying Game (TTRPG)?
- At its core, a TTRPG is a pen-and-paper game where players create characters and engage in spoken roleplaying.
- A popular example is Dungeons and Dragons.
- The Neopets TTRPG is set in the world of Neopets and will include all 55 species of pets.
- Can explore the whole world however you want, go on quests, help NPCs both new and old, study professions, craft items, etc.
- There is a pacifist system that allows problems to be solved non-violently, if desired.
- Fallie was involved in the development of this project in the past before joining TNT.
- Kickstarter Campaign
- The TTRPG is currently on Kickstarter
- International Crowdfunding Platform that Geekify is using to fund the project.
- They are getting support from the community to fund the project.
- The project was 100% funded in less than 6 days! As of this livestream, it is over 300% above their target goal.
- Additional stretch goals have been added to the campaign, including merch alternatives and additional stories.

Q&A with TNT Dom
1. Some prizes from battling in the Battledome are not being given out properly, and there are issues with the item stealing mechanic. What is being done to fix these? [46:30]
- TNT is aware that the prizes like nerkmids and paintbrushes are not being properly distributed.
- A new prize pool will fix that.
- TNT is also looking into the mechanics of prizes.
- These will not be done overnight, but the team is continuing to work on it.
2. Would you consider allowing the userbase to come up with a list of what needs to be fixed? [47:28]
- TNT had always been collecting feedback from our community
- They have a list of over 100 items that they need to fix
- TNT is a very small team these days
- TNT works on a bi-weekly sprints to resolve issues as much as possible.
- Community ambassadors are used to get general feedback from the broader community to send a list of what everyone needs. TNT hopes to go through the list.
3. Are there any plans to bring back previous colours from Styling Studio/NCUC that have already been released, such as Faerie and Darigan? [49:05]
- TNT has exciting plans for both.
- TNT will rotate the colours.
- They are also going to expand different sets, ie: new artwork for pets that weren't available in a specific colour.
4. Many users have expressed concerns about the tier backgrounds and some have a price increase. Some of the tiers have been buggy. What’s being done with the new NC background tiers? [50:00]
- Concerns about pricing:
- The price increase is part of the effort to update the site.
- They want to be aligned with what other games in the space are doing, including how items are priced.
- NC Mall item pricing has never changed.
- Some of the simpler items would be reduced in price, but more complex items would be released with a higher price.
- This also helps the team know how much effort is expected for each item being released.
- Neopets is very concerned about the quality of art, and has been building a large art team located in North America.
- Previously, this work was outsourced across the world.
- The current art team is 6 people, and the team believes the art has improved significantly since the team changes have been made.
- Improving customization experience
- The customization is not up to par, it is laggy, and in the NC Mall, it makes for a poor shopping experience.
- The team has been working on improving the lag, and progress has been made on that front.
- They are also aware that there are items that still need to be converted from Flash and there are items with layering issues.
- They have collected a list from users/ambassadors to work on.
- Looking to potentially leverage the NeoPass integration with DTI to provide a temporary solution for customization.
5. When will the promised Premium membership changes happening? [56:15]
- Some of the changes have already gone live.
- The Space Faerie scratchcard prize was updated earlier today (August 1st, 2024)
- They are still working on ways to improve perks.
- Premium subs will receive monthly goodie bag starting in August going up to the 25th anniversary.
6. What is the longer term plan for games on the website? Quite a few of the games are still broken, even with Ruffle, and certain Flash features are still broken such as the Golden Dubloon. [57:35]
- We are working hard to keep our games up to date with Ruffle.
- Those, we will continue to keep up to date so they can continue to play.
- The games that do not go with Ruffle have a hard time converting to HTML5, but that is not a top priority because it takes a lot of resources.
- And lastly, TNT is planning to introduce mini games as the actual plot.
- The ability to introduce that and explore that avenue is better for them.
7. Will you utilize more Hidden Tower rotations for stamps and collectibles other than the Quest Log? [59:00]
- The team has looked into it, and thinks it is a possible venue to re-release retired items and combat inflation.
- This isn’t at the top of their list right now, but it is moving up.
8. Could you please increase the stamp releases for older stamp albums and their respective avatars. Players are worried that the older albums will not be completed at this rate. [1:00:15]
- They are interested in increasing new stamp releases so old stamp albums are not forgotten unfinished, but it is not at the top of the priority list at the moment.
