Welcome to another day of Cheery Days of SunnyNeo! Today, we continue to reminisce on plots past.

The Champions of Meridell plot kicked off in 2002. We were introduced to the valiant hero Jeran, his long-lost sister Lisha, and King Skarl, who rules the kingdom of Meridell. The kingdom was in a period of prosperity due to a magical golden orb. However, that golden orb was originally the possession of Lord Darigan, ruler of Darigan Citadel. The forces of Darigan attacked Meridell to reclaim their lost treasure, and in the process, Lord Darigan was corrupted by the power of the orb. Neopians, who had joined the sides of both Meridell and Darigan over the course of this conflict, all banded together to stop Lord Darigan's rampage. After the conflict, a fragile truce was called between the two lands.

Unfortunately, this truce would not last long. Not even a year after the conflict ended, Meridell and Darigan found themselves at odds again in the Battle for Meridell plot. Lord Kass, the general who had stepped up after Lord Darigan had been defeated and disappeared, ran a campaign to turn the citizens of Darigan Citadel against Meridell once more. War broke out anew, with Neopians once again able to choose which side to support. The fight was back and forth, culminating with Jeran and Lord Kass fighting atop the Citadel. Just as it appeared Lord Kass would prove victorious, an unexpected ally came to the aid of Meridell - the missing Lord Darigan. Kass was defeated, and Lord Darigan returned to lead the Citadel in a new era of peace. This truce between Darigan and Meridell has lasted to this day.
