The recently announced monthly themed Customisation Contest is live! The inaugural theme is "Neopian Idol" and is described as:
 

A million different stories, one common dream. This is Neopian Idol, where the most talented vocalists from Virtupets to Terror Mountain gather to pursue their dreams of becoming pop stars.

If you wish to enter on the Neopoint side, you need to equip your pet with Censor Bar Glasses and at least one other item. If you wish to enter on the NeoCash or Styling Studio side, you need to equip at least one item from the new Usukicon Y28 Mystery Capsule and at least one other item. When entering on either the regular side or themed side, the system will automatically sort you and let you know if you are eligible. Since you cannot enter both the regular and themed, it will also know if you are entered in one half of the contest.

Note that this was announced as a monthly contest but when entering it shows just the next week's contst (August 17th through 23rd). It remains to be seen if the themed contests run one week per month or if this was a mistake.
