It should be noted that Fruit Machine should let you spin once on site and then a second time in the app instead of both on the app. It seems to be glitchy for some people, however. It has been confirmed the avatar is available to earn where it wasn't before upon its initial migration to the app, possibly in part due to the fact it was put on the app shortly after the change was made to be awarded via Cheops plant in addition to Puntec.

Avatars in general should be available to earn on the app and many have in fact been confirmed to be obtainable. Most recently with the SDB update the Rubbish avatar was discovered to be earned from discarding through the SDB. So you avatar hunters need not worry about doing things on the main site versus the app.
