The Neopies Awards

Starting in January of 2009, Neopets started a new annual survey called the Neopies. The Neopies are awards given to the "Best of" the current year as voted by Neopets users. This page shows some of the items given out to voters and the nominated categories and winners for each year.

9th Year - Best of 2020

The 9th Annual Neopies starts on January 20th, 2021 and ends February 8th, 2021. Be sure to vote everyday so you dont miss the special prize. Each category is open for voting for 2 days, except for day one which is open for an extra day. However if you want the special prize at the end, you must vote on the 1st day that is available to vote. The border around your vote selection will be gold if it is the 1st day it is available for voting. It will be green if you are voting on day 2 (other than the first voting category where you have an extra day to vote).

Best Neopet Color January 20-21
23% Marble Draik It takes a hard headed Draik to pull off these colours but it's a superb pattern and one worthy of the nomination.	58% Maraquan Lutari Even by Lutari standards they are incredible swimmers. Best Species Specific Outfit January 22

25% The Gift of the Xweetoki What would you give up for the perfect gift? Brucey B was asked if he was confident about winning the award and he said "some Neopets are just lucky".	32% A Bad Day for Hanso Hanso tells the highly suspect tale of how he ended up in Brightvale Jail. Brynn is concerned that winning the award might encourage Hanso to write a sequel.	16% Tis the Off Season The Terror Mountain Yooyuball team's vacation turns ugly when Osielle's meditation gets interrupted by a snowball. Prytariel was asked if this was truly the best vacation for the Terror Mountain team, and the team captain said it was certainly the most uneventful.	27% The Negg Tree Kari helps decorate a Negg Tree for the holidays, only for the decorations to be deviously stolen. Alarm neggs ring! Kari is just glad she brought her spare Negg decorations and luckily there were a pile left outside in the snow so she didn't have to buy any new ones.

19% Brightvale Jail Cell Foreground It keeps Brightvale's worst and most mischievous at bay. It also provides a great way to protect the award that it's likely to win.	26% Slushie Stand Foreground A cool, icy, colorful beverage is just what you need and a gold statue award is just what this foreground needs.	12% Washed Up Sandcastle Foreground A sandcastle is beautiful and fleeting in high tide but an award would make it remembered forever.	43% Sea Glass Foreground These perfectly formed pieces of Sea Glass may even upstage the award but that doesn't mean they don't deserve one.

45% Charming Spring Background This delightful spring background was released for Festival of Neggs! It's full of the charm that spring brings and could be worth an award!	13% Clockwork Dress This clockwork dressed came in chronologically at the end of Altador Cup! It's the perfect outfit for those who are tracking time, maybe it's time for a winning title?	39% Potion Master Cloak This classic cloak was released for Halloween, and it's magical aura seemed to cause a magical wonder around Neopia! Do you dare vote for it?	4% Tormunds Shield This wonder was released in celebration of Meridell Day! Though it is note an exact replica of his shield it has said to be a symbol of the Discovery of Meridell, which was a feat in itself, you could say it is worthy of winning here?
Best Site Event January 28
24% Festival of Neggs Kari returned to the festival only to discover that the Neggs were stolen before she could hide them. What kind of creature would nap neggs? Perhaps that same villain would nap the award?	45% Faerie Quests Mister Krawley set up shop in Faerieland and unfortunately many faeries made the mistake of buying his wares and struggling with the magical consequences. It would be quite the consequence if it got the win.	12% Saving Dacardia Granny Hopbobbin enlisted the help of Captain Rourke to bring aid to the Storm devastated Island of Dacardia. A great cause worthy of a great award.	19% Altador Cup XV The Neopia wide competition returned for an iconic fifteenth year. A second trophy is certainly not out of the question.
Best NC Feature January 29
25% Luxury Sky Box Lounge This year's exclusive Neopets got to put their paws up, sip a cold Neocola, enjoy all the perks of the Altador Cup VIP experience. Many called the experience award winning. Could they be right?	20% Doctor Neggistential's Workshop This year at the Festival of Neggs, the eccentric Doctor set up his workshop to tinker with mechanical Neggs and give them the anti-theft devices that they needed. Who knows what he could do with a Neopia? Certainly it'll be difficult for any other nominee to steal the award.	24% The Crafting Faerie Delina made it her mission this year to get back at Mister Krawley for his magical wares. Perhaps she could fix up a win here, too?	32% Charity Corner Gift Shop While "Saving Dacardia" was such a success, so was the Gift Shop for loyal donors. A Neopie would not be considered charity here.

15% Jubjub Power Bounce Retired Mystery Capsule Feel the nostalgia of long retired items in this capsule. The judges of the awards certainly feel it.	32% NC Mall 13th Birthday Jukebox Mystery Capsule A birthday mystery was the best way to celebrate the NC Mall. Best Petpet Colour February 3rd
25% Spring Slorg Some say it's quite fitting that the Petpet that leaves trails also has leaves. The award would go to the colour... not that observation.	19% Faerie Darblat Finally wings that actually help a Darblat fly. It's a feature that the Petpet would enjoy almost as much as the Neopie.	38% Royal Kadoatie Perhaps this Kadoatie is a bit highly strung but then again it's used to royalty. It would certainly treat the award with the grace and dignity it deserves.	18% Chocolate Turtmid This Turtmid will need its shell's protection even more than others. Nothing can protect it from the notoriety that it'll get from the award but it seems okay with that.

Neo's Neopies 2021 FAQs

1. What are the Neopies?
The Neopies are Neopia's annual salute to the numerous highlights (and occasional lowlights) that made the previous year so remarkable. Hosted by a charming Elephante named Ellsworth, the Neopies are a grand gala, whose prominence on the Neopian social calendar is rivalled only by the magnificence of the Chocolate Ball. Once the nominees are announced, attendees earn prizes for placing their votes, which then decide the winner of each category.

2. When do the Neopies start and when do they end?
Voting begins on February 1st NST. The winner of the final category is announced on February 21st 2022.

3. How are the Neopies finalists chosen?
As the end of the year approached, our team of Neopian experts gathered to decide on the categories and select nominees. After a few weeks of debating and voting (with a little arguing thrown in for good measure), the list of finalists is complete.

4. How do I submit my vote?
Click the button below the finalist you would like to vote for. Once you have made your selection (or selections, depending on how many categories you have available for voting that day), click the Submit My Vote button. At that point, you'll need to confirm your vote(s). Once confirmed, your choice(s) will be submitted.

5. How many times can I vote per day?
You can vote once per day for each category that's currently available. When voting, you'll be able to place a vote for a new category (if there's one available that day), as well as any additional previously-announced categories that you may not have voted for below. You'll find these categories located in the "Your Ballot" box.

6. How long do I have to vote on each category?
Each category will be available to vote on for three days, with the exception of the first category, which will be available to vote on for four days. If you vote on a category the first day that it's up, you'll see a dark blue border around your choice. If your vote is not cast until either the 2nd or 3rd day, then your selection will have a light blue around it.

7. How many categories are there to vote on?
This year's Neopies contain a total of 17 categories. A new category will be added each day during the event, with the exception of the second day, until all that remains is to vote on the last two categories. Since categories remain posted for a period of up to three days, you can have as many as three categories to vote on at one time.

8. Do I have to vote for all of the categories that are up on a certain day?
No. However, if you want to receive the bonus prize at the end of the event -- and we know that you do -- you'll need to cast a vote for every category on the day (or, in the case of the first category, day-and-a-half) that it's posted.

9. Do I get a prize for voting?
Yes! You'll receive a prize for every category that you vote for.

10. If I happen to miss a day of voting, so that I have two categories to vote on the following day, can I vote for one of those categories and then come back later in the day and vote for the other?
Yes, you can come back at any time during that day (NST) and vote on the remaining category (or, for those who miss two days, categories). If you miss three days, however, you'll only be able to vote for that day's category and those from the previous two days, since the three-day window for the category from three days ago will have expired.

11. If I change my mind after I have voted in a particular category for that day, can I change my vote?
Once you have submitted your vote(s), you cannot go back and re-vote on them. If you make a selection and then change your mind, you can alter your choice before submitting it. Once a vote has been submitted, however, it is permanently and utterly irreversibly locked in.
