Attack on Altador
On September 15th, 2025, the Attack on Altador activity became available! This game is based on strategy. Help King Altador protect the city of Altador from shades attacking and stealing resources.
Attack on Altador Walkthrough
As mentioned, this game is solely based on strategy. Every game can be played differently depending on how you want to defend Altador from being attacked by the Shades. In order to successfully finish the activity, you must complete all five waves of the game without losing all 50 resources. Each wave has two parts: the building phase and the attack phase.
The Building Phase happens at the beginning of each wave. In the first wave, you are given 1 minute and a total of 30 tools to use to buy specific fortifications to defend Altador. In the other four waves, you are only given 30 seconds and can only use the amount of tools saved and earned. You can earn tools by having your defensive structures eliminate Shades, or by taking back certain fortifications before they are destroyed by the Shades.
The Attack Phase is when Shades come out of the rifts and towards the City of Altador. You can still continue to add, eliminate, and upgrade fortifications during the Attack Phase. You cannot place structures where there are Shades or rubble on the map. The Attack Phase ends when all Shades of that wave are fully eliminated.

Resources | Resource boxes come from the City of Altador. Shades are the only ones who can carry them. If a Shade is eliminated while carrying a resource, the box stays as a fixture for the entirety of the game, or when a Shade takes it back to its rift. | |||

When all Shades have been eliminated and you have not lost all 50 resources, you win the wave. A victory notice will appear stating that the wave is all clear.
However, when you lose all 50 of your resources or choose to end the game, a large red banner will appear to state that you've been defeated.
Strategies
There are a couple known strategies that can help you defeat all five waves. These strategies can also help keep all 50 resources from being stolen by the Shades into the void. Strategy 1
In this strategy, you are creating a maze for the Shades to go through. On the map, you've created an opening at the bottom with various towers and blocks placed strategically. All towers are fully upgraded to attack Shades at a further distance. Additionally, there are Scarecrows that would help with distracting and slowing down Shades. In this strategy, there are three scarecrows (1 at the top, 1 near Altador and the other would be where the red circle is placed) that would be added and eliminated throughout the Attack Phase.
Strategy 2
This strategy was found in our Neopian community. Begin by creating a vertical line of towers right next to the City of Altador. Place a Scarecrow right next to the most bottom tower and you'll find Shades quickly changing course from going to Altador to the Scarecrow. Throughout their going to the City of Altador and to the Scarecrow, most Shades will be eliminated, adding more tools to your total. Keep adding more towers vertically and begin to add horizontally 3 squares down from next to the upper rift. Add and eliminate the Scarecrow as needed to continue distracting the Shades.
